Hi, I’m Kimberly, the photographer and founder of 1917 Gallery.

I’ve always been drawn to the things people tend to walk right past, a bit of unexpected light, an old photograph, a handmade object, an overlooked place, or someone quietly making something wonderful.

1917 Gallery grew from that curiosity.

It’s a small independent creative project based in rural North Dakota, created to help people discover artists, makers, photographers, stories and little pieces of beauty they might otherwise never come across.

Each month, I put together a physical envelope filled with things to discover and keep: original photography, a small print Journal featuring creative people, and a few unexpected extras. It’s part art, part publication, and part reminder that there is still something special about receiving something made by a real person in your mailbox.

I’m not trying to make everything polished or predictable. I’m interested in the overlooked, the handmade, the unusual and the things that make you stop for a second and look closer.

That’s really what 1917 Gallery is about: finding something worth noticing.

I make whimsical prints, stickers, ephemera and letters with NO AI every month. 

I ship monthly themed mail from Canada and I have 3 tiers to choose from: my biggest tier is the print + sticker tier (includes a themed art print + sticker + ephemera + letter + custom envelope). Then I have a sticker only + letter and a print only + letter tier.

Currently I am in the process of making a tarot deck so most of the monthly themes will be tarot focused. In the letter I usually post updates or some info about the artwork but you also might find stories, quotes, facts, prompts, media recommendations that match the art, recipes, etc. and the letter often has my hand drawn artwork on it as well. I use my artwork almost entirely but I sometimes use fair trade artwork on the back of my art prints with a write up on said artwork, mostly because I absolutely love old art. I might occasionally use fair trade art on ephemera mainly to avoid burnout, but I always try to make it my artwork when I can. I will always use my own art for my stickers, art print fronts, envelope designs, and letters and I never use generative AI.
