Hi, I’m Kimberly, the photographer and founder of 1917 Gallery.

I’ve always been drawn to the things people tend to walk right past, a bit of unexpected light, an old photograph, a handmade object, an overlooked place, or someone quietly making something wonderful.

1917 Gallery grew from that curiosity.

It’s a small independent creative project based in rural North Dakota, created to help people discover artists, makers, photographers, stories and little pieces of beauty they might otherwise never come across.

Each month, I put together a physical envelope filled with things to discover and keep: original photography, a small print Journal featuring creative people, and a few unexpected extras. It’s part art, part publication, and part reminder that there is still something special about receiving something made by a real person in your mailbox.

I’m not trying to make everything polished or predictable. I’m interested in the overlooked, the handmade, the unusual and the things that make you stop for a second and look closer.

That’s really what 1917 Gallery is about: finding something worth noticing.

Pleasurenauts is my monthly art mail club, an ongoing correspondence between my studio and your mailbox. Every month I send a mysterious envelope containing a collectible 5x7 art print, a personal letter or transmission, interactive cards and prompts, and other printed treasures that change from month to month.

Everything is created especially for Pleasurenauts, from hand-printed risographs and foil prints to mini zines, art cards, certificates, and other studio experiments.

Each mailing adds another piece to the Pleasurenauts world, expanding its mythology and inviting you to participate. The letters, prints, artifacts, questions, invitations, and surprises build on one another, revealing more as the world grows.

Some months you might be asked to answer a question, make a choice, perform a small ritual, give something away, or carry part of the experience into your own life. You’re not just receiving the work, you’re entering into an ongoing correspondence with it.

I created Pleasurenauts because I wanted another way to share my work beyond social media, something physical, intimate, and direct. There’s something magical about making something in my studio, putting it into an envelope, and knowing it will arrive in someone’s hands thousands of miles away.
