Two small additional pieces that caught our eye! Hi, I’m Kimberly, the photographer and founder of 1917 Gallery. I’ve always been drawn to the things people tend to walk right past, a bit of unexpected light, an old photograph, a handmade object, an overlooked place, or someone quietly making something wonderful. 1917 Gallery grew from that curiosity. It’s a small independent creative project based in rural North Dakota, created to help people discover artists, makers, photographers, stories and little pieces of beauty they might otherwise never come across. Each month, I put together a physical envelope filled with things to discover and keep: original photography, a small print Journal featuring creative people, and a few unexpected extras. It’s part art, part publication, and part reminder that there is still something special about receiving something made by a real person in your mailbox. I’m not trying to make everything polished or predictable. I’m interested in the overlooked, the handmade, the unusual and the things that make you stop for a second and look closer. Each month will also feature an extra item (postcard, bookmark, etc.) and a letter sharing the inspiration and process of creating the art. The seasons are always marching on, so don't forget to notice. The concept of Unhurried Print Club was born in Fall of 2025 when I realized I hadn’t used my backyard hammock all summer long. I knew I needed to make a change. I started to carve out reasons to experience the seasonality of life and knew I had to incorporate these little moments into my art practice. Sharing my seasonal art with family and friends has brought me such joy so I thought I’d launch it to the rest of the internet! I have enjoyed creating and celebrating life’s quiet moments with my subscribers through art and letters. I am a true believer that inspiration can (and should) be found anywhere (and everywhere) in your daily life. The things we forget to notice are the things that make up most of our days. Unhurried Print Club always contains an archival 5x7 fine art print based off of an original oil (usually) or acrylic (sometimes) painting by me, an after-hours artist who loves creating more than sitting on the couch (unless a new season of Great British Bake Off is available). It will always be in the vertical format so you can commit to your display methods wherever you choose to put your new art - the fridge, your desk, or a frame! Print Club subscribers will also receive a small item based on some of my more experimental art. Usually printed on a useable postcard (but I’m not locking myself into a corner, here) I create some fresh sketchbook art to coordinate with the monthly painting. I also write a monthly letter that dives into each piece of art, its inspiration, and the intentional unhurriedness it is meant to inspire. Slow down, put the screen down for a moment, and use both hands to open some good old fashioned snail mail. Hopefully this monthly art reminds you of the joys of each season (yes, even dark, snowy, Midwest winters) and makes sure you don’t forget to appreciate them in your daily life!
