Jane Austen has discovered ghosting. Oscar Wilde has thoughts on your love life, and Poe can’t believe there’s no raven on your mantel. Every two weeks, a wax-sealed letter from a classic author arrives in your mailbox, reacting to modern life and sharing their timeless wisdom. You love their books -- now discover the author and the stories behind the stories.

What if your favorite classic authors could see the way we live now? What would they have to say about the modern age?

Armchair Epics imagines exactly that. Jane Austen has discovered ghosting and sat down with pen and ink to say what she thinks of it. In one letter, Oscar Wilde declares that a love entered cautiously, with a sensible exit strategy, isn’t a love at all: “It is a lease agreement.” Edgar Allan Poe is appalled by a living room with no raven on the mantel. Mary Shelley and Charles Dickens are writing about careers, social issues and more.

At Armchair Epics, you choose an author and they’ll write you a series of 12 letters, one every two weeks, on a variety of topics from love to career to home decor, fashion, and more. Each envelope contains:

-A curator’s note introducing that letter’s topic
-A wax-sealed letter in the author’s voice, with their take on modern life and a dash of timeless wisdom
-A wrap-up note that feels like comparing notes with a friend, plus a hint at the next letter’s theme
-A period-style newsletter of true, sourced stories from the author’s world
-A keepsake, such as art, a sticker or a postcard

You love their books; now meet the authors and the true stories behind the stories.

The letters are imagined, but every one is researched from the author’s real life and work, so they sound like the authors themselves. All of them are written by our founder, Monica Ortiz, who started Armchair Epics to bring a little joy to everyday life, one letter at a time.

It’s $15 a month, or $65 prepaid ($25 savings) for the full six-month series. It’s one of the most unique gifts you can give yourself or a friend who’s read it all!

The name represents where the mail will be sent from - everywhere and anywhere! I travel all year round and am typically in a different country or city every month.

If you would like to receive a mail that may come from France this month and Japan next, this is for you.

All things in the mail are designed and made by me, no AI. I actually do carry a printer with me everywhere as well! In each mail, I try to include something from a local artist in support of their practice. <3

This is a nomad's dream to share her travel finds, recs, tips, and more. : )
