Jane Austen has discovered ghosting. Oscar Wilde has thoughts on your love life, and Poe can’t believe there’s no raven on your mantel. Every two weeks, a wax-sealed letter from a classic author arrives in your mailbox, reacting to modern life and sharing their timeless wisdom. You love their books -- now discover the author and the stories behind the stories.

What if your favorite classic authors could see the way we live now? What would they have to say about the modern age?

Armchair Epics imagines exactly that. Jane Austen has discovered ghosting and sat down with pen and ink to say what she thinks of it. In one letter, Oscar Wilde declares that a love entered cautiously, with a sensible exit strategy, isn’t a love at all: “It is a lease agreement.” Edgar Allan Poe is appalled by a living room with no raven on the mantel. Mary Shelley and Charles Dickens are writing about careers, social issues and more.

At Armchair Epics, you choose an author and they’ll write you a series of 12 letters, one every two weeks, on a variety of topics from love to career to home decor, fashion, and more. Each envelope contains:

-A curator’s note introducing that letter’s topic
-A wax-sealed letter in the author’s voice, with their take on modern life and a dash of timeless wisdom
-A wrap-up note that feels like comparing notes with a friend, plus a hint at the next letter’s theme
-A period-style newsletter of true, sourced stories from the author’s world
-A keepsake, such as art, a sticker or a postcard

You love their books; now meet the authors and the true stories behind the stories.

The letters are imagined, but every one is researched from the author’s real life and work, so they sound like the authors themselves. All of them are written by our founder, Monica Ortiz, who started Armchair Epics to bring a little joy to everyday life, one letter at a time.

It’s $15 a month, or $65 prepaid ($25 savings) for the full six-month series. It’s one of the most unique gifts you can give yourself or a friend who’s read it all!

Write Club is a correspondence club that inspires people to write meaningful letters. Every month, a little dose of proper post arrives through your letterbox, with something to read, something to write, something to draw and something to post - keeping us connected through our own words, in our own handwriting.

Write Club began with a simple idea: to bring people closer together through handwritten letters. Inspired by wanting to connect more meaningfully with my own mum, and my mother-in-law's wish to stay connected with her grandchildren, I started thinking about how we could make letter writing part of everyday life again. We all have people we mean to write to, things we want to say and stories we'd love to share. But somehow, life gets in the way. Write Club is here to change that.

Every month, a little dose of proper post arrives through your letterbox. Inside you'll find something to read, something to write, something to draw and something to post. There's our Letter Writer's Companion, full of ideas, inspiration, writing tips and stories from correspondence past, alongside beautiful stationery, postcards, creative prompts and a few surprises. Everything is designed to make putting pen to paper easier, more enjoyable and something you actually get around to doing. You don't need beautiful handwriting or a way with words. You just need someone you'd like to write to.

But here's what makes Write Club different: the best bits aren't meant to stay in your envelope. They're meant to be written on, drawn on, folded up, stamped and sent out into the world. Perhaps to a grandparent, an old friend, your children or someone who could do with a little cheering up. And who knows? They might write back. One letter becomes a conversation, a postcard becomes a keepsake, and a small act of thoughtfulness creates a connection that lasts long after the post arrives. That's the community we're building: people writing to people, sharing stories, keeping in touch and encouraging one another to keep going. Because the real magic of Write Club happens when those letters leave your house.
